All or Nothing

A group of Meathead Movers approached me this year and wanted the company to sponsor them for to play in the San Luis Obispo Parks & Recreation Adult Male Softball league.   My first question to the group that was soliciting my sponsorship was, “Well, will we take first place or what?”  At first the group wasn’t sure, but proceeded to explain how they are more competitive and athletic than normal people, etc. I replied, “Yeah, yeah, I already know about all that--but I only want to sponsor you guys if you are totally committed taking first place in the league of twelve teams.“   Then I proposed the following terms: “If you take first place, Meathead Movers will reimburse all expenses and throw a big party--do we have a deal?”  We all shook hands and then Team Meathead proceeded to lose their first two games.  Needless to say, things weren’t looking so good.  Then, like any group of champions, this rookie team started practicing and most importantly felt the burning desire to succeed.  Hopefully my heckling at the office helped a little bit too J  Fast forward a few months, Team Meathead knocked off the back-to-back champions (Morris and Garritano), won the championship and likely posted the most dramatic comeback in adult softball league history.  We had our party and Team Meathead was on Cloud 9.

Good Job Team Meathead Softball- I am so proud of you guys!!  This year’s starting line-up was: Adam Peterson, Isaac Rush, Cody Faust, Evan Miller, Anthony Morlino, Sean Patty, Cameron Wardlaw, and Joe Pridmore.
